In this role, you will plan and execute field cruises, manage observational datasets, develop reproducible analysis pipelines, and contribute to high-impact publications and grant proposals.
Responsibility
- Lead and participate in field campaigns to collect coastal and open-ocean data using CTD, ADCP, moorings, and remote sensing tools.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust data processing pipelines in Python and MATLAB, emphasizing reproducibility and version control.
- Analyze oceanographic datasets, perform statistical and spectral analyses, and develop regionally relevant models of coastal processes.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams (biology, geochemistry, climate science) to translate observations into actionable insights.
- Prepare technical reports, scientific manuscripts, and grant proposals; present findings to diverse audiences.
- Lead quality control and metadata documentation to ensure data discoverability and long-term preservation.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to program development and strategic planning.
Qualification
- Master's degree or PhD in Oceanography, Physical Oceanography, or a closely related field; relevant postdoctoral experience considered.
- Strong experience analyzing oceanographic time-series data; proficient in Python and MATLAB; familiarity with NetCDF and Git.
- Hands-on field experience with CTD, ADCP, moored instruments, and shipboard data collection.
- Experience with GIS and remote sensing data; ability to integrate in situ and satellite observations.
- Proven ability to communicate complex results clearly; track record of publications and grant support is preferred.
- Strong teamwork, project management, and problem-solving skills; capable of working in multidisciplinary settings.
- U.S. work authorization; willingness to travel for field campaigns as needed.
