Join Summit Weather Analytics, a forward-thinking weather science firm, to advance forecast accuracy and climate insights. We are looking for a Senior Meteorologist who thrives at the intersection of science and engineering to drive modeling, research, and real-world decision support.
You will lead the design and validation of numerical weather prediction NWP systems, contribute to algorithm development, and collaborate with partners across academia and industry to deliver high-impact weather intelligence.
Responsibility
- Lead development and validation of numerical weather prediction and mesoscale models to improve forecast accuracy.
- Design, implement, and verify calibration, bias correction, and post-processing for forecast products.
- Collaborate with data engineers to deploy models on HPC clusters and cloud infrastructure.
- Analyze observational data from radar, satellites, and surface networks to inform model improvements.
- Develop reproducible research workflows and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and white papers.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and collaborate across cross-functional teams on project proposals.
- Communicate results to non-technical stakeholders through dashboards, briefings, and stakeholder reports.
Qualification
- PhD or MS in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of experience in numerical weather prediction, weather modeling, or forecast product development.
- Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools; experience with MATLAB and Fortran/C++ is a plus.
- Strong background in HPC, Linux environments, version control, and reproducible research practices.
- Proven track record of research impact, publications, and presenting results to diverse audiences.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to translate complex science for stakeholders.
- Experience with machine learning and its application to weather prediction is a plus.
