Join a fast-growing leader in consumer packaging engineering. At Nexa Packaging Solutions, we design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging solutions for global brands. We are seeking a results-driven Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development from concept to production.
In this role, you will collaborate with product teams, supply chain, and manufacturing to optimize performance, cost, and sustainability while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance. You will translate ideas into scalable packaging solutions that protect product integrity, reduce waste, and enhance consumer experience.
Responsibility
- Lead packaging design and development from concept through production launch, ensuring alignment with product goals, cost targets, and sustainability objectives.
- Collaborate with R&D, supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing to optimize performance, protection, and packaging costs.
- Create and maintain BOMs, specifications, validation protocols, and documentation for new packaging concepts.
- Execute material and package testing (ISTA, drop, compaction, seal strength) and analyze results to drive iterative improvements.
- Manage supplier relationships, conduct supplier audits, and qualify new packaging materials and converting partners.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality systems; implement robust QA/QC processes for packaging components.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and improve line efficiency.
- Support production scale-up for commercial launches, providing technical guidance to manufacturing teams and resolving line issues promptly.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of hands-on packaging development experience in consumer goods or CPG environments.
- Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with packaging simulation and prototyping.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and BOM management.
- Solid knowledge of packaging materials (plastics, paperboard, corrugate) and testing standards (ISTA, ASTM).
- Understanding of sustainability requirements, recyclability, and lightweighting strategies.
- Excellent project management, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% as needed.
