Join a fast-growing packaging team at NexPack Innovations as a Packaging Engineer. You will lead the design and optimization of packaging concepts for consumer goods, balancing product protection, sustainability, and cost. This role blends hands-on testing with cross-functional collaboration to deliver packaging solutions that protect product quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and delight customers.
We are seeking a hands-on, data-driven engineer who can translate ideas into scalable packaging solutions and work closely with R&D, QA, supply chain, and manufacturing to drive value across the product lifecycle.
Responsibility
- Lead development of sustainable packaging concepts from concept to validation, ensuring product protection and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with R&D, QA, supply chain, and manufacturing to design packaging that preserves product quality and meets regulatory requirements.
- Plan and execute material and process trials, analyze results, and document conclusions to drive data-backed decisions.
- Create and maintain packaging specifications, drawings, BOMs, and standard work instructions for manufacturing and suppliers.
- Validate packaging performance through physical tests (drop, vibration, compression) and environmental conditioning; qualify alternate materials.
- Manage relationships with packaging suppliers, conduct audits, and drive supplier performance improvements.
- Lead cost-reduction and sustainability initiatives, including recyclability, weight reduction, and material selection optimization.
- Maintain packaging records to support regulatory compliance and product traceability.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years in packaging design/engineering for consumer goods or pharmaceutical sectors
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and PLM systems; familiarity with 3D printing
- Experience with materials for corrugated, plastics, and flexible packaging; knowledge of testing methods
- Strong understanding of regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 11607 for sterile packaging, GMP) and labeling requirements
- Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills; vendor management experience
- Data-driven mindset with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; Six Sigma training is a plus
