NovaPack Solutions is a fast-growing packaging innovator focused on sustainable, high-performance packaging for consumer goods. We are seeking a results-driven Packaging Engineer to join our Chicago product team and help shape the next generation of packaging solutions.
In this role, you will translate concepts into scalable packaging designs, collaborate with R&D, procurement, and manufacturing, and drive value through performance, cost, and sustainability improvements.
Responsibility
- Lead packaging design and optimization from concept through production readiness for new and existing SKUs.
- Collaborate with R&D, supply chain, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure packaging performance and manufacturability.
- Develop packaging specifications, BOMs, testing protocols, and scale-up plans.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISTA, ISO standards; drive cost reduction and sustainability initiatives.
- Plan and execute pilot runs, validation testing, and process transfers to manufacturing.
- Analyze data (DFMEA, DOE, reliability tests) to inform design decisions and continuous improvement.
- Maintain documentation, change control, and project timelines across cross-functional teams.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of packaging engineering experience in consumer-packaged goods or equivalent manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, printing/conversion, and performance testing.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and packaging simulations; experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle).
- Hands-on experience with testing methods (ISTA, drop tests, compression tests) and DFMEA/DOE methodologies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills; results-driven with a customer focus.
