Join a leading consumer goods company in New York, NY, driving packaging innovation from concept to shelf. We’re seeking a results-driven Packaging Engineer who thrives on solving complex packaging challenges while delivering sustainable, cost-effective solutions.
As part of our Packaging & Supply Chain team, you will own end-to-end projects, collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Operations, and translate consumer insights into practical packaging designs.
This role offers exposure to multi-site manufacturing, supplier collaboration, and the latest in packaging technologies, including smart materials, barrier films, and lightweight corrugated systems.
Responsibility
- Lead packaging design from concept to production release, ensuring performance and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and test prototypes, materials, and processes to optimize cost, weight, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with R&D, QA, and Operations to qualify packaging for new products and line extensions.
- Coordinate with suppliers on specs, testing, and supplier quality performance.
- Perform DFMEA, design for manufacturability (DFM), and create BOMs to support scalable production.
- Manage project timelines, risks, and budgets while communicating progress to stakeholders.
- Ensure packaging meets global regulatory and labeling requirements and sustainability goals.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 3-5 years of packaging design and development experience in consumer goods or CPG.
- Strong knowledge of materials, test methods, and regulatory standards (FDA, ISO 9001, ASTM).
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or Creo) and packaging sustainability assessment tools.
- Experience with DFMEA, root cause analysis, CAPA, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to balance cost, performance, and sustainability goals under tight timelines.
