Ideals Recruitment is sourcing a passionate Pastry Chef to join a respected hospitality operation in the Central Region. In this full-time role, you will craft a diverse range of pastries, desserts, breads and confections with artistry, precision and consistency. Collaborating with the Head Pastry Chef, you will help maintain the highest quality standards for in-house dining and special events, while contributing to seasonal menu development to delight guests.
You will master a wide repertoire, including tarts, pastries, chocolate creations, eclairs, macarons, croissants and laminated doughs, with careful attention to portion control, plating, and texture. The position requires strong organizational skills, a fast pace, and a commitment to cleanliness and food safety. You will manage mise en place, supervise junior pastry staff, and ensure goods are produced on time for service and events.

Responsibility
- Prepare and produce a wide range of pastries, desserts, breads and confections to the highest quality standards.
- Maintain meticulous mise en place, portion control, and plating to ensure exceptional presentation for dine-in, takeaway and events.
- Collaborate with the Head Pastry Chef to develop new pastry items and contribute to seasonal menu planning.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, yield, and consistency; adjust recipes as needed to meet specifications.
- Uphold HACCP, sanitation and safety guidelines; manage cleanliness of the pastry station and equipment.
- Manage inventory, order ingredients, track waste, and minimize costs while maintaining a reliable supply chain.
- Train, mentor and supervise junior pastry staff; lead shifts and help maintain a positive, professional kitchen environment.
- Assist with cake and event dessert production, decorations, and showpieces for celebrations and private dining.
Qualification
- Professional Diploma or Certificate in Pastry Arts or Culinary Arts; proven experience in a pastry kitchen (3+ years).
- Strong skills in chocolate tempering, sugar work, laminated doughs, cakes, tarts, and dessert plating.
- Exceptional attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for pastry excellence.
- Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP) and sanitation practices; ability to follow standardized recipes.
- Team player with effective communication; able to train and supervise junior staff.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends or holidays as required; physically able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
