Responsibility
- Assist in the collection of payments for discharged inpatients and ensure accurate posting to patient accounts.
- Provide financial counseling to patients and families regarding hospital charges, billing options, and payment plans.
- Verify patient information, process co-pays, and coordinate with insurance as needed.
- Maintain accurate, compliant patient financial records and protect patient privacy in line with applicable laws.
- Respond to inquiries with a patient-centered approach and resolve billing discrepancies in collaboration with the hospital's billing team.
- Support revenue cycle activities, including daily reconciliation of payments and cash handling.
- Assist with enrollment of payment arrangements, documentation, and pre-authorizations as required by hospital policy.
- Deliver a positive patient experience by communicating clearly and professionally in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- 1–2 years of experience in healthcare billing, patient services, admissions, or a related revenue cycle role.
- Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to explain complex billing information to diverse audiences.
- Accurate math and cash-handling abilities; comfortable with basic financial transactions.
- Familiarity with hospital billing systems and patient accounting software; knowledge of insurance verification and payment plans.
- Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Team player who can work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic healthcare environment; bilingual skills are a plus.
