Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Physics Research Scientist to join our collaborative, grant-funded laboratory at the forefront of experimental physics. This role offers opportunities to design and execute cutting-edge experiments, analyze complex datasets, and contribute to high-impact publications and patents. You will work with a multidisciplinary team spanning physics, engineering, and computer science to push the boundaries of our understanding of physical phenomena.

Ideal candidates are curious, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment with strict safety and quality standards. This is a full-time position with competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a strong emphasis on professional development.

Responsibility

  • Design and implement experiments to probe physical systems in areas such as quantum materials, optics, or condensed matter.
  • Develop and optimize data acquisition and analysis pipelines using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools.
  • Operate and maintain scientific instrumentation (lasers, cryogenic systems, vacuum equipment) with safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with theorists and engineers to interpret results and guide experimental direction.
  • Plan and execute measurement campaigns, including statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification.
  • Prepare results for publication, presenting findings at internal and external seminars.
  • Mentor students and junior researchers; contribute to grant writing and project planning.
  • Document protocols and ensure reproducibility of experiments and simulations.

Qualification

  • PhD in Physics, or equivalent research experience in experimental physics.
  • Strong experimental skills with hands-on experience in optical or cryogenic instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in data analysis with Python (numpy, scipy), MATLAB, or similar tools.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems, MATLAB/LabVIEW, and statistical methods.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Proven track record of research output (publications, conference presentations).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines; strong attention to detail.
