Pacific Crest Printing Co. is seeking a skilled Printing Operator to join our fast-paced production team in Portland, Oregon. This role focuses on high-quality offset printing, color accuracy, and on-time production.
As a Printing Operator, you will set up and operate printing presses, monitor quality, manage color consistency, and collaborate with prepress and finishing teams to ensure client specifications are met and deadlines are achieved. You will contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce waste, while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Responsibility
- Set up, adjust, and operate printing presses for offset and digital workflows to ensure accurate color and registration.
- Inspect substrates and ink flow; perform color matching with standard guides; adjust as needed.
- Monitor machine performance; perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ensure quality control by verifying prints against color proofs, maintaining tight tolerances.
- Manage job documentation, production schedules, and inventory of consumables.
- Collaborate with prepress and finishing teams to optimize workflow and ensure on-time delivery.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment; adhere to safety protocols.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements to reduce waste.
Qualification
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical schooling preferred.
- 2-5 years in printing operations (offset/digital) or similar.
- Solid knowledge of color management, ICC profiles, and print proofs.
- Experience with color measurement tools (densitometers, spectrophotometers) is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret job tickets, blueprints, and process sheets.
- Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and operate heavy machinery with training.
