Join The Heritage Museum of Boston as a Public Historian & Education Coordinator. This full-time role blends rigorous research with engaging public programming to illuminate local and national histories.

As part of our Education and Exhibitions team, you will:

  • Lead research projects using primary sources to support exhibits and programs.
  • Develop and deliver public programs, tours, workshops, and school programs.
  • Collaborate with curators on exhibit planning and content development.
  • Create educational materials and curricula aligned with state standards.
  • Coordinate oral history projects and manage archival records with attention to accuracy and accessibility.
  • Build partnerships with schools, community organizations, and vendors.
  • Support grant writing, fundraising, and project evaluation efforts.

Responsibility

  • Lead rigorous historical research using primary sources to support exhibits and programs.

Qualification

  • Master's degree in History, Public History, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in history, museums, or public programs.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with experience using primary sources.
  • Experience with archives, cataloging, and archival management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, public speaking, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with diverse communities.
  • Experience with grant writing or fundraising and program evaluation is preferred.
