Job description
We are seeking a results-driven Public Policy Analyst to join our local government team in Washington, DC. This role collaborates across departments to design, analyze, and implement policies that improve public services and community outcomes.
As a key member of the policy unit, you will translate complex data into actionable recommendations, support program design, and ensure transparent reporting to elected officials and residents.
Responsibility
- Conduct policy analysis and develop evidence-based recommendations for local programs.
- Coordinate cross-agency initiatives and facilitate stakeholder engagement with community groups and elected officials.
- Prepare impact assessments, performance metrics, and regular program reports for council review.
- Lead program design, budgeting, procurement, and grant management activities.
- Monitor regulatory compliance and manage public records requests in a transparent manner.
- Represent the department in meetings, public forums, and leadership briefings to communicate complex policy concepts.
Qualification
- Bachelors in Public Administration, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field; masters preferred.
- 3+ years of public sector or nonprofit experience with policy analysis or program management.
- Strong analytical, research, and report writing abilities.
- Solid understanding of local government processes and governance structures.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and MS Office; experience with GIS or statistical software a plus.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects.
