PixelWave Labs is seeking a results-driven remote freelance web developer and designer to join our growing creative team. This contract role offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work on high-impact projects for startups and SMBs worldwide. You will collaborate with product, design, and marketing teams to deliver responsive, accessible, and visually compelling digital experiences.
You will thrive in a fast paced environment, balancing multiple projects while delivering consistent quality. This role is remote first with optional on site collaboration in Austin, Texas when possible.
Responsibility
- Collaborate with product and design teams to translate wireframes into high quality, responsive web features.
- Build reusable front end components with React, Vue, or similar frameworks and ensure accessibility WCAG 2.1 compliance.
- Implement CMS integrations and theme development for WordPress, Contentful, or headless CMS setups.
- Optimize site performance, SEO readiness, and mobile experiences through audits and iterative improvements.
- Maintain clean, well documented code and contribute to a scalable design system.
- Troubleshoot cross browser issues, implement fixes, and conduct thorough testing.
- Communicate progress, blockers, and timelines with remote stakeholders.
Qualification
- 3+ years of professional experience in front end development and design.
- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, with modern frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
- Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross browser compatibility.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms, plugin and theme development, and API integrations.
- Proficient with version control Git and modern build tools Webpack, Vite, npm/yarn.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable working remotely and managing multiple projects.
- A portfolio of live websites and case studies demonstrating results.
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience; self taught candidates are encouraged.
