NovaGuard Actuarial Partners is seeking a seasoned Senior Actuary to join our NYC-based team. You will lead actuarial pricing, reserving, and model governance for a diverse portfolio of commercial insurance products. This is a hands-on role ideal for an actuary with strong communication skills and a passion for building data-driven risk insights.
In this role, you will partner with underwriting, finance, and product management to translate complex analytics into strategic business decisions. You will own model development, validation, documentation, and governance supporting pricing, reserving, and experience studies across multiple lines of business.

Responsibility
- Lead actuarial pricing strategies for multi-line commercial lines, ensuring rate adequacy and forecast accuracy.
- Develop and maintain pricing models, reserving methodologies, and experience studies to support business planning.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance, and product teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations.
- Ensure robust model governance, validation, documentation, and regulatory/compliance alignment (IFRS 17, Solvency II where applicable).
- Communicate analytical findings to senior leadership and the board with clear storytelling and data visualization.
- Mentor and develop junior actuarial staff; manage project timelines and deliverables.
- Drive data quality initiatives, automate reporting, and implement scalable analytics pipelines.
Qualification
- Actuarial credential (ACIA/FSIA/FSA or international equivalent) or near-qualified with a track record of success.
- 5+ years of pricing, reserving, or actuarial modeling experience in insurance or reinsurance, preferably in the US market.
- Strong programming and analytics skills (SQL, Python or R) and proficiency with actuarial software (Prophet, AXIS, or similar) and advanced Excel.
- Experience with IFRS 17 or Solvency II; solid understanding of model governance and documentation.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex analyses into clear business recommendations.
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
