NovaStat Analytics is seeking a Senior Applied Statistics Analyst to join our growth-focused data science team in New York. You will design and execute advanced statistical analyses, build robust models, and translate insights into strategic recommendations for clients across finance, healthcare, and tech.
In this role, you will partner with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven decisions that shape strategy and outcomes. The ideal candidate combines deep statistical expertise with practical data storytelling and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibility
- Design, fit, and validate complex statistical and econometric models to solve business problems
- Lead experimental design and A/B testing initiatives across product and marketing initiatives
- Perform rigorous data wrangling, feature engineering, and model diagnostics to ensure robust, reproducible results
- Collaborate with data engineers to productionize models and integrate into analytics dashboards
- Communicate insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders with actionable recommendations
- Mentor junior statisticians and contribute to best-practice analytics documentation
- Stay current with statistical methodologies and software advances to continuously improve analyses
Qualification
- Master's or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field
- 5+ years of applied statistics experience in industry or consulting
- Proficient in R and/or Python for statistical modeling; strong SQL skills
- Experience with SAS is a plus; knowledge of Bayesian methods and time series analysis
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate data into stakeholder-friendly narratives
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; able to manage multiple priorities
