Responsibility
- Supervise and train field crews during excavation, survey, and test-pitting operations.
- Plan and implement field strategies, safety protocols, and schedules in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
- Lead site documentation, GPS/total station mapping, photography, and context recording to high standards.
- Oversee artifact collection, labeling, curation, and transport to accredited labs; ensure strict chain of custody.
- Manage data entry, GIS mapping, and preliminary analysis to support interpretation and reporting.
- Coordinate with stakeholders including clients, regulatory authorities, and local communities.
- Prepare draft technical reports and sections for CRM compliance; contribute to final reports.
- Ensure adherence to safety, ethical, and legal guidelines throughout field activities.
Qualification
- Master's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field; PhD preferred for advanced roles.
- 5+ years of professional archaeological field experience, with CRM or cultural heritage program exposure.
- Experience supervising field crews, coordinating schedules, and managing field logistics.
- Proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS), total station, GPS data collection, and artifact documentation software.
- Strong knowledge of CRM compliance, site recording standards, and reporting practices (e.g., Section 106).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise technical reports.
- Ability to work in physically demanding field conditions, travel regionally, and lift heavy equipment as needed.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours, including some weekend fieldwork.
