Job description

Join HeritageStream Archives, a premium archival team focused on preserving institutional memory for generations. We seek a Senior Archivist who is passionate about both physical and digital records, metadata governance, and delivering accessible, well-organized collections to researchers and stakeholders.

In this role, you will shape archival workflows, drive digitization initiatives, and collaborate with IT, legal, and curatorial teams to ensure compliant access and long-term preservation.

Responsibility

  • Lead development and implementation of archival policies, retention schedules, and access guidelines.
  • Oversee processing of new acquisitions, arrangement, description, and finding aid creation for physical and digital records.
  • Plan and execute digitization projects, including metadata capture and quality control.
  • Establish and enforce metadata standards (Dublin Core, EAD) and taxonomies for consistent discovery.
  • Administer ArchivesSpace and related preservation workflows to ensure reliable access and discovery.
  • Coordinate with IT, legal, and research teams to ensure privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Provide training, guidance, and outreach to staff and researchers on archival best practices.

Qualification

  • MLIS or equivalent degree preferred; Bachelor's in Library Science or History with relevant experience considered.
  • 3+ years of professional archival experience in a research, library, or cultural heritage setting.
  • Strong knowledge of archival standards and metadata schemas (Dublin Core, EAD) and taxonomies.
  • Hands-on experience with ArchivesSpace, metadata tools, and digital preservation platforms.
  • Experience with digitization workflows, OCR, and long-term preservation strategies.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
