Job description

NovaChem Innovations is seeking a highly skilled Senior Chemist to join our R&D team in Cambridge, MA. This role focuses on developing innovative formulations and scaling laboratory findings to real world applications in pharma-grade materials and specialty chemicals.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design and execution of chemical experiments to develop new formulations and materials.
  • Synthesize, characterize, and optimize compounds using state-of-the-art analytical techniques (NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR).
  • Analyze data, interpret results, and present findings to cross-functional teams to inform development decisions.
  • Develop scalable processes and contribute to tech transfer to manufacturing with a focus on quality and reproducibility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards including documentation practices.
  • Mentor junior chemists and collaborate with external partners on projects and publications.
  • Prepare technical reports, protocols, and IP-related documentation for filings and internal knowledge sharing.

Qualification

  • MS or PhD in chemistry, materials science, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in synthetic and analytical chemistry, preferably in pharma or materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with analytical instrumentation (NMR, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR) and data analysis software.
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and collaboration skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Experience with process development, scale-up, and tech transfer; familiarity with cGMP is a plus.
  • Track record of technical publications or patents is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a positive team culture.
