NovaChem Labs is seeking a Senior Chemist to join our dynamic R&D team in New York City. This role focuses on the design, optimization, and scale-up of synthetic routes for pharmaceutical ingredients, with emphasis on quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
As part of the R&D group, you will collaborate with analytical, process development, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, scalable processes that meet project goals and timelines.

Responsibility
- Lead design, optimization, and scale-up of synthetic routes for pharmaceutical compounds from concept to pilot scale.
- Develop robust analytical methods (NMR, HPLC, LC-MS) to support route validation.
- Collaborate with Process Development and Manufacturing to transfer processes to production.
- Mentor junior chemists and support training programs.
- Implement quality by design (QbD) principles and ensure GMP compliance.
- Draft technical reports, risk assessments, and regulatory documentation.
Qualification
- PhD in Chemistry, or MS with 5+ years of hands-on synthetic chemistry experience in a pharma/biotech environment.
- Strong background in organic synthesis, reaction screening, and route optimization.
- Proven experience with GMP/GLP, quality systems, and document control.
- Proficiency with analytical techniques (NMR, HPLC, MS) and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and attention to detail.
