We’re seeking a results-driven Senior Chemist to join our dynamic Process Development team in San Francisco. You will lead scale-up experiments, optimize formulations, and collaborate with R&D and manufacturing to bring innovative chemical products to market. Responsibility
- Lead design, execution and interpretation of experiments for process development and scale-up
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes, reaction conditions and purification protocols
- Plan and conduct analytical characterization using HPLC, GC-MS, GC-FID and NMR as appropriate
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality and Regulatory teams to ensure GMP compliance and safety
- Mentor junior chemists and contribute to SOPs, training, and knowledge sharing
- Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and scale up documentation for cross functional reviews
- Investigate process deviations, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement
Qualification
- MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of hands-on synthetic organic chemistry, process development, or related
- Experience with scale-up, pilot plant operations, and GMP/ISO quality systems
- Proficiency with analytical instrumentation including NMR, HPLC/UPLC, GC-MS and FTIR
- Strong data analysis, problem solving and technical writing skills
- Ability to collaborate across R&D, Manufacturing and Quality teams; strong communication
- Demonstrated track record of delivering robust processes and process validation
