We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Chemist to join our Process Development team in Boston. This role combines hands-on synthesis with process optimization, analytical method development, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-purity products.

Responsibility

  • Lead design, execution, and optimization of synthetic routes for APIs and intermediates, prioritizing efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods (HPLC, GC, MS, NMR) to support characterization and QC.
  • Collaborate with formulation, manufacturing, and quality teams to scale processes from benchtop to pilot and production scale.
  • Prepare technical documentation, risk assessments, and regulatory submissions; maintain audit-ready records (GLP/GMP).
  • Implement DOE, design of experiments, and statistical analysis to improve yields, impurity profiles, and process robustness.
  • Mentor junior chemists, review experimental plans, and foster a culture of scientific rigor.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives; contribute to IP disclosures and patent filings as needed.

Qualification

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent; or MS with 5+ years of industry experience in process development or medicinal chemistry.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in organic synthesis, route scouting, and scale-up (lab to pilot/production).
  • Strong proficiency with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, MS, NMR) and modern characterization tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with GLP/GMP environments, EHS standards, and regulatory documentation.
  • Expertise in DOE, experimental design, data analysis, and process optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams, and track record of technical reporting and presentations.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong project management and documentation discipline.
