NovaShield Technologies is a premier cybersecurity firm delivering end-to-end security solutions for global clients. We are seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Austin, TX. You will design, implement, and evolve security controls across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments, collaborating with product and DevOps teams to build secure, scalable systems.
In this role you will own threat modeling, incident response, and security engineering initiatives that reduce risk and improve resilience. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for a technical leader who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibility
- Lead the design and implementation of security controls across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Perform threat modeling, risk assessments, and define security requirements for new features.
- Monitor, detect, and respond to security incidents; coordinate with the SOC and IR teams.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; remediates findings with engineering teams.
- Develop and maintain incident response playbooks; lead tabletop exercises and post-incident reviews.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps to enforce secure SDLC practices and architecture reviews.
- Manage identity and access controls, encryption strategies, data protection policies, and compliance readiness.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering, threat defense, or related field.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or cloud security certifications (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Strong knowledge of network security, endpoint security, SIEM (e.g., Splunk), EDR, and incident response.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
- Proficient in scripting (Python, Bash/PowerShell) and automation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence across teams and senior leadership.
