Job description
NovaGuard Technologies is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to join our growing Security Team in Austin, Texas. You will design, implement, and maintain robust security controls across cloud and on premises environments, drive secure by default architectures, and collaborate with product teams to reduce risk.
In this role, you will be a hands on engineer and security advocate, balancing threat detection with scalable control implementation. We value proactive problem solving, clear communication, and a willingness to learn in a fast paced environment.
Responsibility
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud and on premises environments.
- Lead threat modeling, risk assessments, and architecture reviews for new initiatives.
- Lead incident response, forensics, and post incident reviews; coordinate with stakeholders.
- Build and automate security tooling (CI/CD security, IaC validation, SAST/DAST).
- Monitor security events using SIEM/EDR, develop detections, and tune alerts.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering to bake security into the SDLC and provide secure coding guidance.
- Mentor junior security engineers and contribute to security roadmaps and governance.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, or related field; 5+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience.
- Deep knowledge of network and application security, IAM, vulnerability management, and threat modeling.
- Extensive cloud security experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud security tooling.
- Proficiency with SIEM (Splunk, QRadar) and EDR (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne); experience with WAFs and IDS/IPS.
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash); IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or OSCP preferred.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence across teams.
