Job description
Northstar AI Labs is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Seattle team. You will design and deliver end-to-end data science solutions that power product decisions and user experiences. You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and data engineers to translate business problems into robust models and scalable systems.
Ideal candidates have a strong background in machine learning, statistics, and experimentation, with hands-on experience deploying models to production and maintaining ML pipelines in cloud environments.
As part of our team, you will own model development, evaluation, and iteration, mentor junior teammates, and contribute to a data-driven culture.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end data science projects from problem framing to deployment in production
- Design, implement, and evaluate ML models for recommendations, anomaly detection, forecasting, and NLP tasks
- Collaborate with product, data engineering, and platform teams to translate requirements into scalable solutions
- Build and maintain data pipelines, feature stores, and model monitoring dashboards
- Assess model risk, fairness, and performance across diverse user segments
- Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to technical standards and best practices
- Communicate insights to stakeholders through compelling storytelling and dashboards
Qualification
- MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on data science experience with a track record of deploying models to production
- Strong proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch)
- Experience with NLP and sequence models, and practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Excellent SQL skills and experience with data visualization tools
- Experience with ML pipelines, model monitoring, A/B testing, and MLOps practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
