Nebula Interactive Studios, a leading game development studio based in Seattle, seeks a Senior Gameplay Engineer to join our growing team. You will design and implement high-quality gameplay systems, AI behaviors, and responsive player experiences across PC and consoles. This role blends technical excellence with creative collaboration to ship engaging, scalable experiences.
What you’ll do: collaborate with designers, artists, and engineers to translate ideas into robust, maintainable systems; optimize performance for multi-platform titles; implement robust networking and replication; contribute to toolchains and pipelines that accelerate gameplay iteration; mentor junior engineers and uphold coding standards; participate in code reviews and architecture discussions; work with state-of-the-art graphics and physics to push the boundary of player immersion.

Responsibility
- Design, implement, and maintain core gameplay systems and features across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with designers and artists to translate design intent into performant, scalable code.
- Build robust networking and replication to support multiplayer experiences.
- Profile, optimize, and refactor code for high FPS and low latency.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and uphold engineering standards.
- Contribute to toolchains and pipelines to accelerate iteration and QA.
- Work with graphics, physics, and audio teams to create immersive gameplay.
- Document systems and participate in design and technical reviews.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional game development experience, with shipped titles.
- Proficiency in C++ and C#; strong knowledge of Unreal Engine or Unity.
- Experience implementing gameplay mechanics, AI behavior, animation systems, and systems architecture.
- Strong understanding of networking, replication, and performance optimization.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Experience with modern tooling, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Passion for games and a track record of delivering high-quality gameplay experiences.
