Job description
We are Nebula Forge Studios, a forward-thinking game development studio crafting immersive experiences across platforms. We are seeking a Senior Gameplay Programmer to lead core gameplay systems and collaborate with design, art, and tooling teams to push the boundaries of interactivity.
As a key member of the engineering team, you will own from concept through shippable features, optimize performance, and mentor junior engineers. This role is based in Seattle, WA with flexible hybrid options.
Responsibility
- Design, implement, and iterate core gameplay systems end-to-end for PC, console, and mobile platforms.
- Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to realize gameplay goals and maintain a cohesive player experience.
- Develop robust AI behaviors, animation-driven states, and physics interactions to support engaging gameplay.
- Profile, debug, and optimize performance, memory, and loading times across target platforms.
- Architect maintainable tools, editors, and pipelines to improve efficiency for the team.
- Mentor and review code from junior engineers, fostering best practices and high quality standards.
- Prototype new gameplay concepts, contribute to feature roadmaps, and participate in tech design discussions.
Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of gameplay programming experience in commercial game development.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and scripting, with experience in Unreal Engine 4/5 or Unity.
- Demonstrated ability to implement AI, animation blueprints, physics, and gameplay systems.
- Solid understanding of 3D math, rendering concepts, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with version control (Git), debugging, profiling tools, and build pipelines.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; self-driven and proactive.
