Heritage Pathways Institute is seeking a Senior Historian to lead rigorous historical research and public-history initiatives in London. You will design research projects, supervise junior researchers, and translate scholarly findings into accessible programs for diverse audiences.
Ideal candidates blend archival methods with narrative storytelling, and are comfortable collaborating with curators, educators, and digital humanities teams.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end historical research projects, including archival exploration, primary source authentication, and historiographical analysis.
- Curate and manage archival collections, ensuring accurate metadata, accessible cataloging, and preservation best practices.
- Develop engaging public-history programs, exhibitions, lectures, and digital content for broad audiences.
- Collaborate with museums, universities, and community partners to design scholarship-driven exhibitions and op-eds.
- Mentor graduate and early-career researchers; oversee research quality, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare grant proposals and manage project budgets; track milestones and outcomes.
- Present findings to diverse audiences through public talks and media engagements.
Qualification
- Master's or PhD in History or a related field from an accredited institution.
- At least 5 years of professional research experience in historical methods and historiography.
- Proven track record publishing peer-reviewed articles and public-history outputs.
- Strong archival research skills and fluency with archival databases and digitization tools.
- Experience designing and delivering public-history programs and exhibitions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present to non-specialist audiences.
- Project management experience; ability to lead teams and manage budgets.
