Verdant Horizons Growers is seeking a Senior Horticulture Technician to lead advanced cultivation in our Portland greenhouse facilities. You will manage crop production, optimize yields, and mentor a growing team of assistants. This role blends hands-on horticulture with data driven practices to deliver high quality, sustainable produce for local markets.
In this role you will oversee propagation, pruning, irrigation, climate control, and integrated pest management, ensuring crops meet quality standards while maximizing efficiency. You will collaborate with agronomy, operations, and sales teams to align production with demand and seasonal planning.

Responsibility
- Lead daily greenhouse operations, crop scheduling, and resource planning to meet production targets.
- Monitor crop health, diagnose issues, and execute integrated pest management with minimal chemical input.
- Maintain precise environmental controls for temperature, humidity, and lighting to optimize growth.
- Oversee propagation, pruning, grafting, and transplanting across multiple crops.
- Analyze data trends from sensors and manual records to forecast yields and adjust plans.
- Manage irrigation systems and nutrient delivery, ensuring water efficiency and plant nutrition.
- Supervise and train seasonal staff, ensuring safety and adherence to SOPs.
- Collaborate with product, supply chain, and sales teams to align production with market demand.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in horticulture, botany, agronomy, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of hands-on greenhouse or field horticulture experience.
- Strong knowledge of integrated pest management and disease identification.
- Experience with climate-based control systems, irrigation, and hydroponic or soilless growing methods is a plus.
- Proficiency with data collection, analytics, and farm management software.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver's license and ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.
