Verdant Horizon Horticulture, a premium grower and innovation partner, is seeking a results-driven Horticulturist to lead plant health, propagation, and greenhouse operations in Davis, CA. This role blends field and controlled-environment work with data-driven decision making to optimize crop quality, yield, and sustainability.
You will collaborate with agronomists, researchers, and growers to implement integrated pest management (IPM) programs, optimize irrigation regimes, monitor soil health, and advance propagation techniques. The ideal candidate combines hands-on cultivation skills with analytical thinking and a passion for sustainable horticulture.
- Lead day-to-day greenhouse and field crop care, including propagation, pruning, and training.
- Develop and execute IPM strategies to minimize pests and diseases while reducing chemical inputs.
- Design and monitor irrigation schedules, soil amendments, and fertigation to optimize water use and crop vigor.
- Coordinate plant health assessments, record-keeping, and data analysis to inform crop decisions.
- Collaborate on breeding, selection, and trait improvement projects with R&D teams.
- Train and mentor junior staff and seasonal workers on horticultural best practices.
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across all operations.
- Document standard operating procedures and contribute to research trials and reports.
Responsibility

Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field
- 3+ years of professional horticulture experience in greenhouse and field environments
- Strong knowledge of IPM, pest management, plant pathology, and disease diagnosis
- Experience with irrigation systems, soil testing, and nutrient management
- Proficiency with data collection, analysis, and reporting; ability to use Excel or data tools
- Excellent communication, team collaboration, and project management skills
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings during harvest
- Valid CA driver's license or reliable transportation
