Responsibility

  • Lead development and validation of numerical weather prediction products and forecast tools.
  • Build and maintain forecasting systems, data pipelines, and visualization dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with climate and extreme weather researchers to advance understanding and practical applications.
  • Communicate forecast uncertainty, risk assessments, and scenario planning to non-technical audiences with clarity.
  • Mentor junior meteorologists, provide technical guidance, and oversee quality assurance of outputs.
  • QA/QC observational data and model outputs, ensuring traceability and reproducibility of results.
  • Support field campaigns and rapid-response analyses during significant weather events.

Qualification

  • Master’s or PhD in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in weather forecasting or climate research.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and R; experience with numerical weather prediction models (WRF, GFS, ECMWF) is a plus.
  • Experience in data analysis, statistics, machine learning, and data visualization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with high-performance computing environments and version control (Git).
  • Experience with GIS and geospatial data; ability to work with large datasets and develop reproducible workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across teams.
