Job description
Nimbus Weather Analytics is seeking a seasoned Senior Meteorologist to join our team of weather enthusiasts focused on delivering high-impact forecasting and risk insights to aviation, energy, agriculture, and corporate clients.
You will leverage state-of-the-art numerical weather prediction models, satellite data, and advanced visualization tools to produce accurate, actionable forecasts and communicate them clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
As a senior contributor, you will mentor junior meteorologists, contribute to product development, and ensure forecast quality through rigorous QA and validation processes.
Responsibility
- Lead forecast production for daily weather outlooks and client-specific forecasts across sectors
- Develop, test, and validate forecast models and tools; implement QA processes
- Interpret meteorological data from models, radar, and satellites; translate into actionable insights
- Communicate forecast results and risk assessments to non-technical stakeholders
- Collaborate with data science and GIS teams to deliver climate and weather risk analytics
- Present findings to leadership and external partners; respond to inquiries in a timely manner
- Mentor and train junior meteorologists and interns
Qualification
- Master's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science or related field
- 5+ years of professional forecasting experience, preferably with NWP models
- Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis and visualization
- Experience with WRF, GFS, ECMWF or equivalent models
- Strong communication skills and ability to distill complex data into clear narratives
- Experience with GIS, visualization tools, and weather dashboards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and manage multiple priorities
