Join AuroraWeather Analytics, a leading provider of meteorology solutions for public agencies and private sector clients. We are seeking a talented Senior Meteorologist to lead forecasting projects, develop data driven insights, and advance our research capabilities.
In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver accurate weather forecasts, climate analyses, and decision support tools. The ideal candidate combines strong scientific rigor with practical communication skills to translate complex data into actionable guidance.
Responsibility
- Lead development and enhancement of numerical weather prediction products and forecast routines.
- Design and execute meteorological research projects, evaluate model performance, and publish findings.
- Collaborate with data scientists to build climate risk and actionable forecasting tools.
- Translate complex meteorological data into clear, concise briefings for clients and stakeholders.
- Oversee data pipelines, QA processes, and quality control for meteorological datasets.
- Advise on safety critical decisions and regulatory compliance with weather-related guidance.
- Mentor junior meteorologists and contribute to training programs.
Qualification
- Master's degree in meteorology, atmospheric science, or a closely related field; PhD preferred for advanced research roles.
- 5+ years of hands on forecasting or weather research experience.
- Proficiency with numerical weather prediction models such as WRF and ensemble tools; strong programming skills in Python and R.
- Experience with meteorological data sources including radar, satellite, and surface observations.
- Strong communication skills with ability to present technical concepts to non technical audiences.
- Familiarity with GIS, mapping tools, and data visualization for decision support.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage multiple projects.
