Job description
NorthStar Global Tech is seeking a strategic Senior Network Engineer to join our Seattle-based team. You will design, implement, and optimize scalable enterprise networks across data centers, cloud interconnects, and remote sites. Collaborate with security, cloud, and software teams to deliver resilient, secure, and high-performance networking solutions that empower global operations.
In this role, you will influence network strategy, mentor engineers, and drive improvements in availability, performance, and security. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position suited for a seasoned professional who loves solving complex networking challenges.
Responsibility
- Design and implement scalable enterprise network architectures across data centers, WAN, and cloud interconnects.
- Configure and optimize routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching fabrics in multi-vendor environments.
- Deploy and manage security policies and devices (firewalls, VPNs, zero-trust principles) to protect network perimeters and data flows.
- Lead network automation initiatives using Python, Ansible, and related IaC tools to reduce manual toil and improve consistency.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network incidents; participate in post-incident reviews and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with cloud, security, and app teams to ensure reliable connectivity for workloads across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and contribute to network design documentation and runbooks.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on enterprise networking experience.
- Strong expertise in routing and switching, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRFs, and data center fabrics (Cisco Nexus, Juniper QFX).
- Proven experience with multi-cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and VPN technologies.
- Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent (CCNA considered with strong experience).
- Proficiency in network automation with Python and Ansible; familiarity with IaC concepts.
- Solid understanding of network security, firewalls, and zero-trust architectures.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
