Job description

This full-time role reports to the Principal Investigator and collaborates across multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership in hydrographic analysis, field campaigns, and modeling efforts.

Responsibility

  • Lead and manage oceanographic data collection campaigns, ensuring data quality and reproducibility.
  • Design experiments and deploy instruments (CTD, rosette, ADCP, autonomous vehicles) in coastal and open ocean settings.
  • Perform advanced data analysis and modeling using MATLAB, Python, and R; contribute to publications and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross disciplinary teams on climate, biogeochemistry, and ecosystem studies.
  • Mentor junior scientists and graduate students; contribute to grant writing and project management.
  • Develop and maintain software tools for data processing and visualization; ensure robust data workflows.
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders and lead outreach and education activities.
  • Contribute to instrument development and field logistics planning for complex campaigns.

Qualification

  • Ph.D. in Oceanography, Physical Oceanography, Marine Science, or a related field; or equivalent research experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on field and data analysis experience in oceanographic campaigns.
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and statistical analysis; experience with R is a plus.
  • Experience with instrument deployment (CTD, ADCP, Argo floats, autonomous vehicles) and data processing.
  • Excellent written and oral communication; proven track record of publications and grant writing.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects with deadlines.
  • Willingness to relocate or reside in the Cape Cod area; valid US work authorization.
  • Strong data management, problem solving, and organizational skills.
