Responsibility
- Lead and execute oceanographic data collection campaigns (physical, chemical, and biological sensors) in coastal and open-ocean environments
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise field operations, safety, and logistics for expeditions
- Analyze large datasets using Python, MATLAB, and R; develop and apply statistical and physical models
- Design and run numerical and conceptual ocean models; interpret results for publications and reports
- Collaborate across disciplines (biology, geology, climate science) to advance integrated oceanography projects
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals; present to scientific and stakeholder audiences
- Mentor graduate students and junior scientists; contribute to grant writing and proposal development
Qualification
- PhD in Oceanography, Marine Sciences, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong experience in physical or chemical oceanography, data analytics, and modeling
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and R; experience with GIS and data visualization tools
- Experience with autonomous platforms (gliders, AUVs), CTD/Mooring deployments, and field campaigns
- Proven track record of publications and ability to contribute to grant proposals
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
- Ability to work in dynamic field settings, travel as needed, and adapt to changing priorities
