The successful candidate will translate complex oceanographic data into actionable insights for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders.
As a Senior Oceanography Scientist, you will drive project design, oversee data collection campaigns, supervise analysts, and contribute to peer-reviewed publications and grant proposals. You will work with state-of-the-art sensing platforms, numerical models, and data analysis tools to address critical questions in climate variability, ocean circulation, and coastal resilience.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end oceanographic research projects from concept to dissemination
- Plan and execute field campaigns using CTD rosettes, ADCPs, moorings, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, and Argo floats
- Develop and apply numerical models and data analysis pipelines in Python and MATLAB
- Integrate diverse data streams and perform rigorous quality control and statistical analysis
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to advance coastal and open ocean studies
- Mentor junior scientists and manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting
Qualification
- PhD in oceanography or a closely related field, or a master's degree with substantial post graduate research experience
- 5+ years of post-degree research experience in oceanographic fields
- Strong programming skills in Python and MATLAB, with experience in data analysis and statistical methods
- Experience with ocean observing systems (CTD, ADCP, Argo, moorings) and field campaigns
- Proven track record of publications and successful grant proposals
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities
- Willingness to travel for field work and collaborate with international teams
