Join a premium consumer goods company redefining packaging for a sustainable, high-performance future. Northstar Consumer Goods is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead packaging concepts from ideation through production, ensuring protection, cost efficiency, and brand impact across omnichannel experiences. This role blends design finesse with practical manufacturing know-how to deliver world-class packaging solutions.

As a pivotal member of our product team, you will shape packaging strategy, champion material choices, and collaborate across design, sourcing, QA, and operations to accelerate speed-to-market while upholding quality and sustainability commitments.

Responsibility

  • Lead the end-to-end packaging development process for primary and secondary packaging, from concept to ramp, across multiple product lines.
  • Define packaging architecture and materials strategy that balance protection, cost, sustainability, and brand appeal.
  • Develop CAD models and detailed drawings (SolidWorks/AutoCAD) and create functional prototypes for testing and validation.
  • Plan and execute packaging testing (ISTA/ASTM standards), performance validations, and line-side pilot runs to ensure reliability in transit and shelf environments.
  • Collaborate with design, supply chain, QA, and manufacturing teams to optimize convertibility, manufacturability, and scale-up readiness.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, manage vendor relationships, and oversee material substitutions, cost reductions, and lead-time improvements.
  • Own documentation of specifications, bill of materials, and packaging standards; ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of packaging design and development experience in consumer goods or CPG industries.
  • Proven proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and packaging prototyping methods.
  • Strong knowledge of ISTA testing standards, durability testing, and packaging validation processes.
  • Solid understanding of materials science, fillers, barrier properties, and sustainability-minded material selection.
  • Experience with supplier management, project management, and cross-functional collaboration in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Ability to balance design aesthetics with production feasibility and cost constraints; comfort with ambiguity and rapid iteration.
