Job description
We are seeking a results-driven Senior Product Packaging Manager to lead the end-to-end packaging strategy for a growing portfolio of consumer brands. This role blends engineering rigor with design excellence to deliver packaging that enhances shelf impact, protects product integrity, and drives sustainability.
In this role you will collaborate with product, marketing, supply chain, and external suppliers to design, test, and finalize packaging concepts that balance cost, performance, and environmental impact.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept to launch for multiple SKUs and brands.
- Define packaging specifications, materials, testing protocols, and performance criteria to ensure protection, durability, and shelf impact.
- Partner with suppliers, converters, and manufacturers to optimize cost, lead times, and quality; manage vendor relationships.
- Drive sustainability initiatives by selecting eco-friendly materials, reducing material usage, and conducting life cycle assessments as needed.
- Manage packaging BOMs, cost estimates, and approval workflows; monitor changes through PLM systems.
- Collaborate with packaging engineering, regulatory, QA, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with labeling and safety standards.
- Lead cross-functional teams through ideation, testing, validation, and successful product launches with strong project management discipline.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
- 5+ years of packaging development or packaging engineering experience in consumer goods or CPG sectors.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials (board, plastic, metal), printing, converting, barrier properties, and shelf life considerations.
- Experience with CAD tools, 3D modeling, and PLM systems; ability to interpret prototypes and translate into production-ready designs.
- Proven project management and cross-functional leadership; adept at coordinating multiple programs and stakeholders.
- Excellent supplier management and negotiation skills; track record of achieving cost and lead-time improvements.
- Understanding of sustainability frameworks and regulatory labeling requirements (FDA, EU, and regional guidelines as applicable).
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and collaboration skills; comfortable presenting to executives and cross-functional teams.
