Job description

We are seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead end-to-end packaging development for consumer goods across multiple categories. This role combines engineering rigor with creative problem solving to deliver scalable packaging solutions that meet market needs and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate will translate product requirements into innovative packaging concepts, validate designs, and collaborate across engineering, operations, and procurement to drive successful production launches and continuous improvement.

Responsibility

  • Lead the design and development of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging concepts from concept to production launch.
  • Validate packaging specifications for performance, shelf life, environmental impact, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to optimize materials, processes, and cost structures.
  • Plan and execute design of experiments (DOE) and pilot trials; analyze data to drive informed decisions.
  • Manage supplier relationships, evaluate packaging materials, and qualify vendors; conduct risk assessments.
  • Develop and maintain design documentation, BOMs, and change controls within PLM systems.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives to reduce waste, improve recyclability, and meet corporate ESG targets.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and deliver clear, data-driven presentations to stakeholders.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of packaging design/engineering experience within consumer goods, food, or pharma sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, testing methods, and regulatory requirements (e.g., packaging standards, labeling).
  • Proficiency with CAD/3D modeling, simulations, and PLM tools; experience with DOE and FEA is a plus.
  • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and vendor management abilities; strong collaboration mindset.
  • Data-driven decision making, problem-solving aptitude, and a bias toward action.
  • Experience with sustainability initiatives and lifecycle assessment is desirable.
