You will collaborate with Product, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to deliver cost-effective, compliant, and high-performance packaging solutions for diverse product lines.
As a core member of the packaging team, you will own projects, define specification sheets, perform material selection, run trials, and supervise pilot runs. You will translate customer needs into practical, scalable packaging concepts that protect product quality while minimizing waste.

Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through commercialization, including material selection, structural design, and test planning.
- Collaborate with Product, Operations, and Supply Chain to optimize cost, weight, and sustainability while maintaining performance and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain packaging specifications, bill of materials, and validation protocols (DVP&R, FMEA as applicable).
- Plan and execute lab and line trials, analyze results, and implement robust design changes.
- Interface with suppliers and manufacturers to qualify materials and processes; conduct risk assessments and supplier audits.
- Drive packaging quality investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for issues in transit or at shelf.
- Support sustainability initiatives, including packaging waste reduction and recyclability improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and standard work documentation.
Qualification
- BS or MS in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of packaging development experience in consumer goods or medical devices.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials and conversion processes; experience with PET, HDPE, paperboard, and corrugated.
- Hands-on experience with testing methods (drop, compression, vibration, environmental) and DVP&R execution.
- Proficient CAD/CAM for packaging design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and basic 3D modeling skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory and quality systems (FDA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 for medical devices as applicable).
- Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for supplier visits and on-site validations.
