Elevate consumer experiences as a Senior Packaging Engineer at ApexPack Innovations in New York. You will lead the design, material selection, and validation of packaging systems for multiple product categories, ensuring performance, sustainability, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance.
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with design, procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to drive packaging excellence from concept through launch and scale-up.
As a strategic contributor, you’ll balance performance, cost, and environmental impact to deliver packaging that protects product integrity while enhancing consumer appeal.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through production, including material selection, structure design, testing, and validation.
- Collaborate across design, sourcing, QA, and manufacturing to align on performance, cost, and sustainability goals.
- Evaluate and validate new packaging materials and processes, balancing barrier properties, recyclability, and regulatory compliance.
- Create robust CAD models and 3D renders to communicate concepts to internal teams and suppliers.
- Manage projects with defined timelines, budgets, and milestones; drive risk assessment and mitigation plans.
- Develop and implement design for manufacturing (DFM) guidelines to streamline production.
- Lead packaging testing programs, including drop, vibration, compression, and shelf-life assessments.
- Collaborate with suppliers on prototyping, testing, and scale-up for mass production.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of packaging development experience for consumer packaged goods.
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and 3D rendering software.
- Solid understanding of packaging materials, barrier properties, and sustainability considerations.
- Experience with regulatory requirements across markets (e.g., FDA, EU, or global packaging standards).
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent supplier collaboration and communication skills; data-driven decision making.
- Proven track record of delivering packaging solutions on time and within budget.
