Job description
NovaPack Solutions is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer to lead packaging development for consumer goods across multiple categories. This role blends design, testing, sustainability, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver packaging that protects product integrity while optimizing cost and environmental impact.
As a key member of the packaging team, you will partner with R&D, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality to create innovative packaging solutions that meet regulatory and performance requirements. You will own the packaging development lifecycle from concept through launch and continuous improvement, driving value at every stage.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept to pilot runs and commercial launch
- Design and validate packaging solutions including materials, barriers, and packaging configurations
- Develop and maintain BOMs, specifications, color recipes, and qualification documents
- Plan and execute testing per ISTA 3A 3B, ASTM D4169, and relevant standards
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality to ensure design for manufacturability and scale up
- Manage supplier qualification, audits, and cost optimization while ensuring sustainability goals
- Drive packaging sustainability initiatives including recyclability, recycled content, and weight reduction
- Lead project management activities, risk assessments, and timeline tracking
Qualification
- Bachelors in Packaging Science, Materials Science, or related field; masters preferred
- 5+ years in packaging development or manufacturing within consumer goods
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, barriers, and testing methods
- Experience with ISTA, D4169, ISO 11607 and regulatory considerations
- Proficiency with BOM management, DFMEA, and documentation control
- Cross functional collaboration and project management skills
- Supplier qualification, negotiation, and cost optimization experience
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD and data analysis
