This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution to deliver packaging solutions that protect product quality while reducing environmental impact.
As a key member of our Packaging & Sustainability team, you will partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to drive design-for-packaging, material selection, and process improvements across all packaging tiers.
Responsibility
- Lead packaging design from concept to production launch for multiple product lines, balancing performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Develop and validate packaging specifications, materials, and performance test protocols (compression, drop, seal strength, leak tests).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, operations, QA, and suppliers to ensure design-for-manufacturability and quality.
- Perform DFMEA/Risk assessments and run DOE experiments to optimize packaging performance and cost.
- Manage supplier qualification, audits, and material testing to ensure compliance and traceability.
- Drive sustainability goals by selecting recyclable/compostable materials and reducing overall packaging weight.
- Lead digital packaging initiatives, manage PLM data, and maintain accurate BOMs and change controls.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in packaging design/engineering for consumer goods or pharmaceuticals.
- Strong knowledge of materials (paperboard, plastics, laminates), packaging systems, and carton/bottle design.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent) and 3D modeling; familiarity with PLM systems (Siemens Teamcenter, Aras, or similar).
- Experience with packaging testing protocols (compression, drop, vibration, seal integrity) and DOE methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer and regulatory requirements into practical packaging solutions; regulatory awareness (FDA/EU) a plus.
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration, project management, and communication skills; ability to lead in a matrix environment.
- Commitment to sustainability and continuous improvement, with strong problem-solving mindset.
