QuantumNova Institute is seeking a Senior Physicist to lead experimental programs in quantum materials and advanced measurement techniques. This position is based in Cambridge, MA with opportunities for collaboration across our national lab network.
As a member of our Physics Research group, you will design, execute, and analyze experiments, develop instrumentation, and mentor early-career researchers. The role combines hands-on laboratory work with opportunities to drive research strategy, assess technical risk, and contribute to grant proposals.

Responsibility
- Lead the conception, design, and execution of experiments in quantum materials and cryogenic systems.
- Develop and maintain high-precision measurement instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
- Analyze experimental data using Python, MATLAB, and advanced statistical methods.
- Collaborate with theorists to interpret results and publish in high-impact journals.
- Mentor and supervise postgraduate researchers and technicians.
- Present findings at internal and external seminars; contribute to grant proposals.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and research governance standards.
Qualification
- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in experimental condensed matter physics or quantum materials research.
- Expertise in low-temperature cryogenics, superconductivity, advanced microscopy, or related instrumentation.
- Proficiency in data analysis with Python, MATLAB, and LabVIEW; experience with hardware-in-the-loop systems.
- Strong publication record with demonstrated conference and peer-reviewed contributions.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills, with ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- U.S. work authorization and willingness to travel as needed.
