NovaPack Solutions is seeking a results-driven Senior Product Packaging Engineer to lead end-to-end packaging development for cutting-edge consumer products. This role blends design, materials science, and manufacturing know-how to deliver packaging solutions that optimize performance, reduce cost, and support our sustainability initiatives. Based in Los Angeles, you will collaborate across R&D, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing to bring innovative packaging to market.
As a key member of our Packaging team, you will drive concepts from ideation through production, ensuring feasibility, regulatory compliance, and scalability.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging design and development for consumer products from concept to production launch.
- Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Manufacturing to translate product requirements into robust packaging solutions.
- Develop sustainable packaging strategies to reduce material use, improve recyclability, and lower total cost of ownership.
- Create CAD models, 3D renderings, and BOMs; manage design reviews and change control.
- Validate packaging performance through ISTA-compliant tests (vibration, drop, compression, climate) and quantify results.
- Partner with suppliers and toolmakers to optimize processes, tooling, and ramp to high-volume production.
- Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Ensure packaging meets regulatory, safety, and labeling requirements across regions.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Masters preferred.
- 5+ years of consumer goods packaging development experience, with a track record of successful launches.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) and 3D rendering; strong BOM and documentation skills.
- Experience with ISTA/ISTA 3A testing, validation protocols, and packaging performance metrics.
- Solid understanding of packaging materials, conversion processes, and sustainability considerations (recyclability, compostability, and life cycle assessment).
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication; strong stakeholder management and presentation skills.
- Vendor management experience, including supplier selection, auditing, and tooling negotiations; project management skills a plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and labeling standards for multiple markets; willingness to travel as needed (up to 20%).
