Job description
NovaPack Solutions is a leading innovator in premium consumer packaging. We design and manufacture sustainable, high-performance packaging solutions for global CPG brands. This role leads the end-to-end packaging development lifecycle, collaborating with product, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to deliver packaging concepts that win at shelf while minimizing environmental impact.
As a Senior Product Packaging Engineer, you will steward packaging design from ideation to pilot runs and launch, balancing form, function, and cost. You will mentor junior engineers, drive reliability testing, and ensure scalable packaging solutions across multiple product lines.
Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through high-volume launch, including primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging systems.
- Partner with Design, R&D, Procurement, and Manufacturing to translate consumer insights into feasible packaging solutions.
- Develop and optimize packaging structures using CAD tools (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD) and 3D prototypes to validate performance and sustainability.
- Evaluate materials, seal integrity, drop/fit testing, and shelf-life considerations to ensure product protection and retail success.
- Implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles and drive cost reduction while maintaining quality and performance.
- Lead packaging testing protocols, document results, and support regulatory and sustainability reporting.
- Collaborate with suppliers on component specifications, validation testing, and scale-up activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in packaging operations.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Science, Industrial Design, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in product packaging development for consumer goods; CPG experience required.
- Strong proficiency in packaging CAD tools (SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Esko Studio) and 3D printing for rapid prototyping.
- Experience with materials science, sustainability-focused packaging, and regulatory considerations for packaging materials.
- Proven track record in designing for manufacturability, cost optimization, and launch execution.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with testing methodologies (drop, compression, vibration, seal integrity) and data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
