Join ApexPack Innovations, a leader in cutting-edge packaging solutions, as a Senior Product Packaging Engineer in Chicago. This role drives end-to-end packaging development for consumer brands, balancing performance, cost, sustainability, and manufacturability.
You will lead cross-functional teams, translate product requirements into packaging concepts, and oversee rapid prototyping and pilot runs to ensure market-ready solutions. You will collaborate with R&D, Design, Procurement, and Operations to deliver innovative, scalable packaging systems.

Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept to validation for consumer products.
- Collaborate with R&D, Design, Procurement, and Manufacturing to define packaging specifications and cost targets.
- Develop and implement test methods, durability studies, and DOE plans to ensure performance and reliability.
- Model and validate packaging with 3D CAD, prototyping, and simulations; drive DFM and scale-up plans.
- Evaluate materials, conversions, and sustainability options to meet regulatory and environmental goals.
- Lead vendor selection, supplier audits, and collaboration with Global Sourcing for cost optimization.
- Support product launches with packaging validation, production readiness, and post-launch improvements.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of packaging engineering or design experience in consumer goods or packaging manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials, conversion processes, and sustainability considerations.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk) and packaging design software; experience with 3D printing and rapid prototyping.
- Experience with DOE, FMEA, APQP, and regulatory compliance (FDA/EU packaging guidelines).
- Excellent collaboration, project management, and communication skills; ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Data-driven mindset with analytical skills and proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with PLM/PDM systems is a plus.
