NovaPack Solutions is seeking a Senior Product Packaging Engineer to lead the development of cutting edge packaging for consumer goods. Based in New York City, you will drive packaging strategy from ideation through launch, balancing performance, sustainability, and cost. Responsibility
- Lead end to end packaging development for new products from concept through commercialization
- Translate product requirements into packaging specs, prototypes, and validation plans
- Collaborate with Product, R&D, Supply Chain, Regulatory, and external suppliers to deliver robust packaging solutions
- Drive sustainability initiatives including material reduction, recyclability, and end of life considerations
- Create and maintain packaging design files in PLM and manage BOMs, cost targets, and production readiness
- Conduct packaging tests for drop, compression, vibration, moisture and tamper resistance; analyze results and iterate designs
- Evaluate and qualify new materials and equipment; manage vendor relationships and sourcing
- Support scale up for mass production and ensure quality metrics and post launch optimization
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Design, or related field; Master's preferred
- 5+ years of packaging development experience in consumer packaged goods
- Strong knowledge of packaging materials including plastics, paperboard, and corrugates; focus on sustainability
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and PLM systems; experience with 3D validation
- Experience with packaging testing methods (ISTA, ASTM) and reliability analysis
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and labeling for packaging in multiple markets
- Excellent cross functional collaboration and project management; strong communication and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel up to 15 for supplier visits and trials
