Job description

Join a premium consumer goods packaging team at Aurora Packaging Solutions. We design and manufacture sustainable, premium packaging solutions for a global portfolio of brands. You will lead packaging development from concept to launch, collaborating with design, procurement, and manufacturing teams to ensure optimal performance, cost, and sustainability.

As a Senior Product Packaging Engineer, you will own packaging architecture, material selection, and process improvements that protect product integrity while delivering a memorable unboxing experience. This is a high-visibility role that shapes how products are perceived in the market.

Responsibility

  • Lead end-to-end packaging development from brief through launch, including concept ideation, prototyping, testing, and validation.
  • Select materials and structures that balance performance, cost, and sustainability, with a focus on recyclable and biodegradable options.
  • Collaborate with design, brand, and engineering teams to ensure packaging aligns with product specs and brand guidelines.
  • Oversee package testing ( drop, compression, vibration, seal integrity) and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Partner with suppliers and manufacturing to optimize packaging tooling, processes, and cost reduction.
  • Develop design for manufacturability (DFM) guidelines and bill-of-materials (BOM) accuracy.
  • Drive digital packaging workflows, including 3D modeling, packaging simulations, and line trials.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation and quality.

Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; Master’s is a plus.
  • 5+ years in packaging engineering or packaging design roles, preferably in consumer goods or e-commerce.
  • Strong knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and sustainability considerations (recyclability, compostability, materials compliance).
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Creo) and packaging optimization tools; experience with 3D rendering and DFM.
  • Experience with testing protocols (ISTA, drop, compression, vibration) and regulatory compliance (FDA, IEC, ASTM where applicable).
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills; ability to influence stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Strong analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making and supplier management experience.
