Join NexaPack Solutions as a Senior Product Packaging Engineer in Chicago. You will lead the creation of premium packaging solutions for our consumer goods portfolio, balancing performance, cost, and sustainability. Responsibility
- Lead end-to-end packaging development from concept through scale-up, including materials selection, structure, and print design.
- Partner with R&D, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure packaging is manufacturable, cost-effective, and compliant with standards.
- Develop and maintain packaging BOMs, specifications, test plans, and color/material standards.
- Plan and execute packaging validation tests (ISTA/ASTM) and reliability assessments to ensure performance under distribution conditions.
- Manage packaging supplier relationships, negotiate cost targets, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead pilot runs, line trials, and commercialization support to ensure smooth product launches.
- Champion sustainability goals by optimizing material usage, recyclability, and end-of-life considerations.
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of packaging development experience in consumer goods or equivalent industry.
- Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and packaging design software; strong technical sketching skills.
- Experience with testing protocols (ISTA, ASTM) and regulatory compliance considerations (FDA, EU frameworks).
- Demonstrated project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities; results-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of materials science, barrier properties, laminates, printing processes, and sustainability considerations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and supplier management capabilities.
